Mark started training with Ray Storm in 1999. As a tag team,
Mark and Ray won the Virginia Championship Wrestling's Tag Team
titles from Kory James and Hot Property at Mitty's Night Club in
Newport News, Virginia.
Eventually, they lost the titles to Christian York and Joey
Mathews in Smithfield, Virginia. Joey later went on to become
Joey Mercury in the WWE.
In 2002, Mark moved to Houston, Texas and began training at
Tugboat Taylor's Pro Wrestling School. Mark graduated from the
school on August 29, 2003.
